STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES

As members of the legal profession, we have a special responsibility to address injustice and promote equality. We therefore stand by the following:

We acknowledge our obligation to promote equality, diversity and inclusion.

We are committed to inclusive legal workplaces in Ontario, the elimination of barriers created by unconscious bias and discrimination, and better opportunities and representation for all equity-seeking groups.

We are committed to advancing reconciliation, and acknowledge that we are collectively responsible for promoting justice and wellbeing for Indigenous peoples in Canada.

We integrate an anti-racist approach into our work, and stand with those fighting systemic discrimination in policing and in the justice system.

We are committed to protecting the dignity of all individuals, and fostering respect for and adherence to human rights law.
