Ruthie is an associate with Kastner Ko LLP. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2020. Her practice includes employment, civil litigation, human rights, and criminal/regulatory defence.
Before joining Kastner Ko LLP, Ruthie articled with the Ontario Ministry of Labour, where she appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice and the Ontario Labour Relations Board on matters related to employment standards and workplace health and safety.
Ruthie received her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School. While at Osgoode, she completed a placement in the Workers’ Rights Division at Parkdale Community Legal Services and was awarded the Frederick H. Zemans Prize in Poverty Law for her contribution. Ruthie also assisted clients with wrongful conviction claims through Osgoode’s Innocence Project, worked as an editor for the Journal of Law and Social Policy, and competed in the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association moot, where she received awards for Best Overall Advocate and Best Examination-in-Chief.
Prior to law school, Ruthie completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from McGill University and worked as part of a research group studying the criminalization of mental illness in news media.
